    [Map]. Samuel A. Mitchell. Map of the State of Texas. 8.75" x 11.5", printed for the Mitchell's School and Family Geography, 1846. Designated No. 13 for the "Mitchell's School Atlas," this beautiful, hand-colored map shows Texas around the time of annexation by the United States. Noted as the first map of Texas to feature the city of Dallas, it features the location of counties, towns, and other geographic features as well as the locations of Indian tribes indigenous to the region. Relief shown in hachures.

    Condition: Lightly toned throughout, with minor foxing on verso, else very fine condition.
