    Romer Zane Grey's "My First Marlin"

    Romer Zane Grey (American animator and author, eldest son of Zane Grey, 1909-1976). Archive, including seven page first carbon copy of a typed manuscript for a short story or chapter entitled, "My First Marlin," with Grey's manuscript corrections. Approximately 11 x 8.5 inches, rectos only. First leaf with rust stains at top. [Together with:] Two original photographs. One depicts a fishing boat, the other, a large house (with penciled notes on verso, "Old Z. G. home at Lackawaxen which later became Zane Grey Inn..."). Photographs approximately 4.5 x 7 inches. Photo of boat creased and with paperclip rust marks. [Together with:] Penciled note of instructions of mixing chemicals for some kind of tank (presumably on a fishing boat). Approximately 7 x 5 inches. [Together with:] Four large, later photographic reproductions from the fishing expedition which inspired this manuscript. [Together with:] an original snapshot photograph of Zane Grey posing with a swordfish on a pier. Approximately 6 x 3.5 inches. Paperclip indentation at upper-left corner. Accompanied with the original autograph letter signed by the person who sent this photograph to Romer Grey. Overall, a near fine archive. Housed in custom leather-bound pull-off box.
