    H. G. Wells Writes an Impatient Letter to the
Publicity Department of the Publisher of
    The Fate of Homo Sapiens

    H. G. Wells Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages on Wells' stationery note paper, 7 x 11 inches unfolded, Regent's Park, [n.d.] Addressed "Publicity Dept of Secker Warburg. Why is the Fate of Homo Sapiens not in the Scott James [?] list of forthcoming books for July in the New Statesman? - Just my public list [?]. It is your business for the next three weeks to pepper the press, the gossip columns &c &c with the look [?] of the book. Just the title [?]. Get people expecting the book. Go about talking to journalists and paragraph makers. Don't think of anything else but the F of H. S. Yours, H. G. Wells". One of the penciled notes states "because July publicn not certain". This letter presents a side of Wells not generally perceived by the public - of the impatient author brow-beating his publisher. Vertical and horizontal creases, large tears to upper and lower portions of the sheet, just touching the text, penciled commentary in an unknown hand (presumably by someone in the publicity department). A good letter.
From the Larry McMurtry Collection of H. G. Wells.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
