    Auguste Rodin. Autograph Letter Signed.
    "Auguste Rodin." Two pages (of a bifolium) in French, 4.25" x 6.75", 77 rue de Varenne, Paris; July 4, 1910. In this letter to an unnamed correspondent, Rodin writes With all my heart I thank the artist that I had the pleasure of clapping for at the tea organized by Madame J. C. Mendès [?]. I would love to hear you once again and I would love for you to tell me which day, around 4:30-5:00 pm, I could welcome you here... and bask once more in the pleasure of hearing you and clapping for you. Please accept my warmest thanks and all my sympathies."

    François Auguste René Rodin (1840-1917), known as Auguste Rodin, was a French sculptor. Generally considered the progenitor of modern sculpture, Rodin achieved worldwide fame by 1900. His students included Antoine Bourdelle (1861-1929), Camille Claudel (1864-1943), Constantin Brâncu?i (1876-1957), and Charles Despiau (1874-1946).

    Condition: Letter has the usual folds; letter separated at the crease of pages 1 and 2 and held together by tape; slight separation at the right edge of horizontal fold on page 2; poor to fair condition.
