A. A. Milne. Letter signed. London, March 15, 1925. Single sheet, text to recto only, on Milne's letterhead with a hand-corrected Chelsea, London address. Addressed to "My dear class VI" and with corresponding envelope. Letter with the usual folds and wrinkles, some minor staining, closed tear (0.75 inches; 19 mm) to top margin, not affecting text, large section of bottom left corner missing, not affecting text. Crease through bottom of Milne's signature but still clear and legible. Lot includes a typed letter signed from Christopher Milne, Embridge Forge, 13th November, 1976, both mailing envelopes and three photographs as well as press clippings from Christopher Milne's marriage. Very good to near fine.A charming letter in the hand of Milne's wife, confirmed in the typed letter signed from Christopher Milne, "the letter is in my mother's handwriting but is signed by my father." The 1925 letter reads, in part, "I am sending you some little photographs of Christopher Robin... He sends his love to you all, and thanks you for liking his book so much." The "little photographs" are present and "in one of them he has a butterfly in his hand, which he is holding very carefully so as not to hurt it, and in another one he is trying to see what a butterfly smells like." A lovely little archive, bookended by a letter from the subject of the first with very sweet photographs providing yet another small glimpse into the childhood of Christopher Robin. We will update this listing should the smell of a butterfly later be disclosed to us. From the Pat McInally Collection of Winnie-the-Pooh and Christopher Robin
