Madeleine L'Engle. A Wrinkle in Time. [New York]: Ariel Books-Farrar, Straus and Cudahy, [1962]. First edition. Octavo (8.125 x 5.375 inches; 206 x 137 mm.). [x], 211, [3, blank] pages. Publisher's blue quarter-cloth over paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt and yellowish-orange; in original dust jacket. Backstrip faintly dulled; spine ends very softly pushed with some trivial wear; top edge of boards faintly discolored. Top edge of text block lightly soiled; lengthy previous owner inscription on the front free endpaper with some light brown spotting. Dust jacket spine panel text very faintly tanned; edges lightly worn with a chip across the crown and a few other minor nicks; rear panel lightly browned with some modest soiling to the white background; biopredation to the flap folds, causing some paper loss and the spine panel resulting in some minor bruising; price-clipped. Still, a near fine copy in an about very good dust jacket. Bookplate signed by the author laid in. The first book in L'Engle's Time Quintet series; winner of the 1963 Newbery Medal.
