    M. P. Shiel. "The Lend-Lease" Typed and Holograph Manuscript, Later Published as "The Return of Prince Zaleski." [Sussex?: circa 1945]. Original manuscript, thirty numbered leaves; two-and-a-half leaves in Shiel's hand; remaining leaves typescript with holograph corrections by Shiel and collation marks by John Gawsworth. Thirty leaves (8 x 6.5 inches; 203 x 165 mm.). Text primarily on rectos only; three leaves with typed and holograph text on verso. Loose sheets in protective sleeves, side-stitched into black cloth-covered portfolio with flexible boards. Housed in custom black cloth chemise in black cloth-covered slipcase, dark red leather spine labels stamped in gilt. Very mild age toning to leaves; occasional light foxing, spot-soiling and ink-staining; a few ragged corners, general light rippling to pages from handling; small hole at upper corner of first and last few leaves. A near fine and well-preserved manuscript. Gawsworth, a literary figure in his own right, was Shiel's friend, collaborator, and literary executor. First appeared in book form under the title "The Return of Prince Zaleski" in the collection Prince Zaleski and Cummings King Monk (London: 1977).
