    This is a parody of Juvenal in which Wood is outspoken in his praise of Dryden (who is called the Ôsecond JoveÕ) and equally outspoken in his denunciation of some of this literary and political opponents, Shadwell, for instance is attacked. Wood was called Ôa major innovator in the development of the ImitationÕ, in his ÔJuvenalis rediviviusÕ he was the first to combine literary and political satire.Õ[Kupersmith, Roman Satirists...1985]
