    More Information:

William Browne, 1591-1643?, poet. "Among the Lansdowne MSS. (No. 777) is a collection of poems by Browne, first printed at the Lee Priory Press in 1815. The collection includes a series of fourteen sonnets to 'Celia,' in which the writer seems to refer to the death of his wife and to his second wooing; some tender epistles and elegies; six 'Visions,' on the model of Du Bellay; jocular and bacchanalian verses; epigrams and epitaphs. Among the epitaphs are found the famous lines 'Underneath this sable herse,' &c., which have been commonly attributed, on no better authority than Peter Whalley, to Ben Jonson..." DNB.

Sir Egerton Byrdges set up the Lee Priory Press in 1813. He was one of the original members of the Roxburghe club. He enticed Johnson ( the author of Typographica) & Warwick, who had worked for Bensley to work for him to produce "literary collectors wirh reprints of some of the most curious tracts of former days, in which there shall be an attempt to add beauty of typography and wood-engraving..." "...the books have an agreeable elegance, and at the time of their publication they were highly admired..." [Roderick Cave.]  NSTC B4909. Lowndes 292.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
