Walter Scott. The Lord of the Isles. A Poem. Edinburgh: Archibald Constable and Co., 1815. First edition. Quarto (10.375 x 7.875 inches; 265 x 201 mm.). [8], 275, [1, blank], clxv, [1, blank] pages. Contemporary calf, decoratively tooled in blind, five raised bands at spine, spine lettered in gilt, gilt fillet decorations and inside dentelles; all text block edges trimmed and gilt; marbled endpapers. Binding generally a bit rubbed and scratched, with several small areas of dark staining; wear and slight loss at spine ends; joints showing a bit of wear and just starting to crack, but still sound; wear to board edges; corners bumped with board peeking through leather. Lacking front free endpaper; faint evidence of bookplate removed from front pastedown. Occasional, very faint spots of marginal foxing and thumbsoiling scattered throughout interior; silhouettes from pressed flowers at title-page; ribbon placeholder fraying at end. Very good.
