    Small octavos. Uniformly bound in original illustrated yellow paper wrappers. Moderate edgewear, chipping to corners, edges, and spine with some losses, somewhat soiled and toned, pencil notation to upper wrappers. Somewhat foxed, minor text block edgewear. Housed in navy cloth folding case or quarter brown morocco slipcase over brown cloth, spine gilt. Good to Very good.

First edition, first issue; "actresses" misprint to No.7, page 207, line 33 and No.12 with Chapter XLVII misnumbered as Chapter XLVIII, both corrected in later issues. Octavo. Complete in 24 parts, issued from November 1857-October 1859. Illustrated with engravings, small woodcuts, and initials. Original illustrated yellow paper wrappers. Minor to moderate edgewear, chipping to spines and edges with some losses, somewhat rubbed and soiled, Parts 1-5, 13, 17 and 22 with early ink ownership to upper wrapper. A few pages opened roughly, text blocks foxed, chiefly to plates, and unevenly toned. Housed in brown cloth slipcase with maroon leather spine labels stamped in gilt and brown cloth chemise; minor edgewear. Good or better.
