    Victor Hugo. Les Misérables. New York: Carleton, 1862. First American and first English language edition. Five octavo volumes bound in one, each with a separate title-page. Text in two columns. Bound in contemporary half brown morocco over marbled boards, spine ruled, tooled, and lettered in gilt. Spine sunned, with some edgewear and mild chipping, some wear to boards, endleaves and blanks somewhat toned and mildly chipped, some toning to text. Still, very good.
