First edition (true first edition, published on January 5, 1886, four days prior to the English edition). One of only 1,250 copies of the first edition issued in publisher's forest green boards. Octavo (7.25 x 4.75 inches; 184 x 121mm.). 138 pages, plus 4 pages of publisher's advertisements. Bound in publisher's forest green cloth, with gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Top edges of pages gilt. Small bookseller label on front endpaper. Near fine condition.

    A beautiful copy of the true first edition of Stevenson's classic novella.
