First edition thus of this illustrated Dutch translation by Isaak Verburg. Two folio volumes bound in one. Latin and Dutch text side-by-side in double columns. Approximately 18.25 x 12 inches. [xviii], 247, [1, blank], [ii], 249-524, [4, index] pages. With inserted frontispiece and three full-page plates. With 124 intertextual illustrations. Contemporary full brown calf, spine tooled in gilt in compartments, seven raised bands, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label. Binding worn, gilt on spine virtually not visible, spine label chipped, joints cracked, hinges cracked, some dampstaining, foxing and thumbsoiling in text, minor ink markings on front pastedown. Bookplate of the Loyd-Paxton library. Still, a very good copy of this majestic translation of Ovid.
