Mark Twain. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. New York: Charles L. Webster and Company, 1885. First American edition with the following first issue points, per BAL: "Him and another Man" with "88" on p. [13]; "with the was" on p. 57; final leaf blank; and frontispiece with "Heliotype Printing Company" and visible tablecloth. Also, "Huck Decided" instead of "Huck Decides" under "Chapter VI" on page [9], a first issue point per MacDonnell (Firsts, p. 31). Title page a cancel; page 283 on a stub, the earliest issue possible in the cloth-bound issue. Octavo. 366 pages. Portrait frontispiece. With One Hundred and Seventy-Four Illustrations by E. W. Kemble. Publisher's full green cloth, front cover and spine decoratively stamped in black and gilt. Minor rubbing, light soiling, and some edge wear to the cloth with light abrading to the extremities. Small, square newspaper clipping to front pastedown. Rubbing to the frontispiece. Small areas of staining to the margins of the last few leaves. Overall, a rather bright copy in very good condition.
