Mark Twain. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer's Comrade). New York: Charles L. Webster and Company, 1885. First American edition, early issue, with the following points: page [13], the illustration captioned 'Him and another Man' is incorrectly listed as at p. 88 (BAL first state); page 57, the eleventh line from the bottom reads 'with the was' instead of 'with the saw' (BAL first state). MacDonnell's first state of "Huck Decided" instead of "Huck Decides" under "Chapter VI" on p. [9]. Octavo. 366 pages. Original green decorated cloth, front board and spine pictorially stamped and lettered in gilt and black. Boards modestly rubbed with a bit of cloth wrinkling on rear board, board edges and joints rubbed with some abrasions, corners bumped, open tear on backstrip. Text block edges lightly toned, a few gatherings shaken, some places over-opened, occasional thumbprints on outer margins. Generally, a very good copy.
