Mark Twain. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. New York: 1885. First U. S. edition.

More Information: Mark Twain. Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. New York: Charles L. Webster and Company, 1885. First U. S. edition, first printing with the text uncorrected at pages [9], [13] and 57, page 283 a cancel, mounted on a stub, with the illustration corrected (as are all copies in cloth); the copyright page is dated 1884; page 155 with the final 5 in mismatched type (no significance). Octavo (8.375 x 6.625 inches; 214 x 169 mm.). 366, [2, blank] pages, (note: pages 1-2 are blank; terminal blank present, which BAL notes is not standard in cloth copies, it appears to be original, and there is old offsetting from the illustration on page 366; it does not appear to be mounted on a stub but has been glued in the inner margin to the preceding leaf and endpaper); frontispiece in the first state with tablecloth visible. Publisher's green cloth, spine and front board lettered and stamped in gilt and black, front board ruled in black. Spine ends renewed; front joint splitting from the bottom edge; shallow ripples to the backstrip; boards lightly rubbed; edges somewhat worn, particularly at the corners; corners bumped. Page edges lightly soiled; rear hinge reinforced; endpapers lightly soiled; upper corner of the front endpaper nearly detached; occasional very light marginal soiling; brief note in ink on the verso of the terminal blank. A sophisticated copy, presents as very good. BAL 3415. MacDonnell, Firsts Magazine, September, 1998.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
