Lewis Carroll. Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland. New York: Limited Editions Club, 1932. LEC edition, limited to 1500 copies, of which this is number 1437, signed by Alice Hargreaves (the original Alice) for whom the book was written as a child and by designer Frederic Warde. Octavo (8.625 x 5.65 inches; 218 x 145 mm.). [6], xi [xiv], 182 [183], [1, blank], [1, limitation], [3, blank] pages. Frontispiece, title-page vignette and in-text illustrations by John Tenniel engraved on wood by Bruno Rollitz. Publisher's dark red morocco, ruled and elaborately tooled in gilt, spine additionally lettered and decoratively stamped in gilt; all edges gilt; plain endpapers; in original blue cloth slipcase. Spine ends and corners very lightly worn, with a touch of discoloration from an old leather repair to the crown, now partially peeling; only a hint of a spine lean. Bookplate to both pastedowns, one at rear applied upside down and with a slightly excess of glue, causing a small bruise on the free endpaper. Slipcase edges and top, bottom and spice faces faded; some occasional faint mottling throughout; edges lightly worn with some minor fraying. A near fine copy in a very good slipcase. From the Collection of Daniel J. King.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.View More Testimonials
