More Information: Bartlett (1762-1827) was a spendthrift adventurer who volunteered as a captain of volunteers in Shay's Rebellion. The poem "Physiognomy" is a satire of the well-known men of his day. He is no relation to the Bartlett of "Bartlett's Quotations."
