The Rare Second Edition of Milton's
    Paradise Lost

John Milton. Paradise Lost. A Poem in Twelve Books. The Second Edition Revised and Augmented by the same Author. London: Printed by S. Simmons, 1674. Small octavo. Approximately 6.5 x 3.75 inches. [viii], 333, [1, blank] pages. With engraved frontispiece portrait of Milton by Dolle. Bound without final blank. Finely bound in nineteenth-century full brown straight-grain morocco, boards paneled in gilt with gilt floral cornerpieces, spine ruled, tooled and lettered in gilt, five raised bands, gilt board edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves, all edges gilt. Binding rubbed, especially at joints and corners, text toned with some occasional marginal tears or chips and a few upper corners creased, some occasional foxing in text, some faint neat pencil notes. Title page with two tears, skillfully repaired. Upper margin trimmed a bit close in a few places, but no loss. Previous owner's neat signatures on verso of front free endpaper and title-page. Bookplates of G. Walter Steeves and William Twopeny on front pastedown. Still, a fine copy.
This is the last edition of this book to have Milton's personal revisions.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
