Henry Fielding. The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling. London: A. Millar, 1749. Second edition, begun before the completion of the first, correcting its typographical mistakes; errata replaced by an expanded contents on page lxiii of Volume One; catchword "who" on page twenty-one of the first volume. Six volumes; twelvemo (6.5 x 3.875 inches; 164 x 97 mm.). Contemporary sprinkled calf, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, volume number and rules in gilt; boards double-ruled in gilt; board edges tooled in black; page edges sprinkled red; plain endpapers (free endpapers of first volume replaced, laid paper with chain lines perpendicular to the pastedowns). First volume skillfully rebacked with the original spine laid down. Backstrips faintly darkened with some wear; spine ends worn with some leather loss to most crowns, particularly the sixth volume; most joints worn, some starting but generally secure; corners worn and slightly bumped; general light shelfwear. Top edges of text blocks lightly dustsoiled; first volume hinges strengthened; endpapers foxed and slightly discolored from leather and binder's glue; occasional light foxing and marginal soiling throughout; previous owner signature on each title-page, bookplate to each front pastedown, early bookseller's catalog description tipped to front pastedown of first volume. Very good overall, housed together in a custom slipcase. Cross, Vol. III, pp. 316-317; ESTC T89901. From the Collection of Daniel J. King.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
