First edition, first printing. Octavo. 328, 22 [publisher's catalog, dated April 1864], [2] pages. Publisher's full pebbled cloth stamped in blind, spine lettered in gilt. Spine and boards sunned to light brown, corners bumped, moderate edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine with some losses, gilt on spine somewhat worn. Brown endpapers; bookplate to front pastedown, somewhat rubbed, rear hinge just starting. Internally tight, all edges trimmed; pencil notations to front blank recto, foxed, minor text block edgewear, top edge darkened. Housed in brown cloth slipcase backed in brown levant morocco, spine lettered in gilt with five false raised bands, and brown cloth chemise; minor edgewear. Very good.

Publisher's full purple pebbled cloth stamped in blind, spine lettered in gilt. Moderate edgewear, head and foot of spine just pushed, rubbed, spine sunned and partially sprung. Brown endpapers; front hinge weak but holding, somewhat rubbed. Internally generally clean, all edges trimmed; pencil notations to front blank recto, somewhat foxed, minor text block edgewear, top edge darkened. Housed in dark red cloth slipcase backed in dark red levant morocco, spine lettered in gilt with five false raised bands, and red cloth chemise; minor edgewear. Very good.
