Clark edition which preceded this edition by a few weeks). Octavo. xxviii, 391, [3] publisher's catalog pages. With 27 illustrations on wood by George Cruikshank. Publisher's original brown cloth blind-stamped with floral decoration. Titles stamped in gilt on the spine. Edges lightly worn, more so at the spine ends; binding a bit shaken; hinges cracked but holding; contents generally clean with minor offsetting to the title page illustration, else very good condition. According to BAL, the Clarke and Company edition was published in London May, 1852, and the Cassell edition was published in August, 1852 and was the authorized edition.
