    More Information:

Harriet Beecher Stowe. Uncle Tom's Cabin. Chicago: Donohue, [1897]. With an Autograph Letter Signed by Stowe tipped-in (March 13, 1881). Also with an Autograph Note Signed (housed in a mounted envelope) by L. G. Harris, the basis of the character of George Harris, Eliza's husband in Uncle Tom's Cabin. Two portraits of Stowe are affixed to the front pastedown and the first blank; a dealer's catalogue entry and newspaper clippings are affixed to both sides of the front free endpaper. Early twentieth-century half brown morocco over green cloth boards, spine stamped in gilt, marbled endleaves. Top edge gilt. Binding quite worn at joints and edges; rear hinge starting; gutter facing recto of frontispiece cracked; some browning and offsetting to letters. Bookplate of William E. Ambler on the front pastedown. Overall, a good copy with interesting associations. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.
