More Information: George Ellis (1753-1815), a one time member of Parliament and author, was an intimate William Windham and Scott, admired in his own day for his poetry; Horace Walpole noted that he was  a favorite at Versailles.  Although he is best remembered today for the judiciousness of his compilation of early English poetry, this three volume set is also a fine collection of works in its own right.    Lowndes 731 (1805 ed.).

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
