    More Information: Charles Dickens. The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club. London: Chapman and Hall, 1837. First edition, mixed issue. Octavo. xiv, [2], 609, [1, blank] pages. Frontispiece, vignette title-page and forty-one additional inserted plates by R. Seymour and Phiz. Contemporary olive horizontally-ribbed cloth; front and back stamped in blind with textured pattern; spine stamped in blind and gilt. Edges rough-trimmed. Housed in black cloth slipcase. Rebacked with original backstrip laid down; rubbing to edges and corners; spine faded to light brownish green; some light soiling and discoloration to boards. Front inner hinge repaired. Faint offsetting opposite illustrations; edges of plates browned with some spotting on and around images. Evidence of dog-earing, minor marginal thumbsoiling and staining, slightly chipped page edges throughout text block. Slipcase mildly dust-soiled. Previous owner inscription on recto of half-title. Good. "Veller" frontispiece, textual note on page nine, and two Chapter III's. Lacks other first issue textual points but has uncorrected "Veller" on page 342, line five.
