Octavo (7.875 x 5 inches; 201 x 127 mm.). xiv, [2], 624 pages. Frontispiece, vignette title-page, and thirty-eight additional plates by H. K. Browne. Later three-quarter red morocco over red cloth-covered boards, spine tooled in gilt with five raised bands, gilt ruling at boards along edge of morocco; all text block edges trimmed, top edge gilt; marbled endpapers. Mild shelf wear at extremities of binding; a few small areas of surface insect damage to cloth; nick at upper fore-edge of rear board. Text block very softly dulled with age; plates mottled and a bit browned; occasional, mostly marginal spot-soiling scattered throughout interior. Very good. Smith 9.
