    Description

Charles Dickens. Little Dorrit. London: Bradbury & Evans, December 1855- June 1857. First edition, twenty numbers issued in nineteen parts. Octavo. This set collates complete, with all wrappers, advertisements, and slips present; first issue text, with "Rigaud" for "Blandois" in Part XV and with the subsequent correction slip in Part XVI. Illustrated with forty plates, after etchings by Halbot K. Browne, ["Phiz"]; including eight "dark" plates. Publisher's pictorial blue paper wrappers. Minor to moderate edgewear with some chipping, a few issues with unobtrusive professional repairs to spine, a few wrappers trimmed close and just touching text, intermittent foxing and soiling, small tape abrasions to upper wrapper of no. II. Internally generally clean and tight, text blocks lightly toned, minor intermittent foxing and soiling, plates toned with some offsetting. Housed in green cloth chemise and green morocco pull-off case, spine stamped in gilt; sunned, minor edgewear. Very good.

Eckel, pages 82-85; Hatton and Cleaver, pages 305-330.
