Charles Dickens. Hard Times. For These Times. London: Bradbury and Evans, [circa 1870]. Reprint edition. Octavo. [8], 352 pages. Publisher's green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, boards with decorative blind-stamping; text block edges trimmed; brown-coated advertisement endpapers. Rebacked with original backstrip laid down; boards a bit rubbed with a few spots of soiling; fairly minor wear along edges of boards; corners bumped with boards just peeking through cloth. Evidence of repair at hinges; area of discoloration with a small amount of residue at front pastedown, likely from removed bookplate; split along hinge extending to about halfway up front free endpaper. Text block a bit yellowed with age, particularly around edges; occasional faint, mostly marginal soiling scattered throughout interior, along with some dimpling of pages from handling. Good. Housed in custom clamshell. Publication date estimated from advertisement at endpapers, as title-page has original first-edition publication date of 1854.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
