Christmas Carol has colored frontispiece, three additional colored plates, and in-text illustrations, with a pale lavender star stamped on the final page and a red ruled border on every page. All other volumes have inserted frontispieces, title-vignettes and in-text illustrations. Publisher's original red cloth; fronts and backs stamped in blind with gilt title vignettes; spines stamped in gilt. Pale yellow endpapers. All edges trimmed and gilt. Regular shelf wear and corner bumping to bindings; spines of second-state Battle, Chimes, and Haunted Man beginning to split at outer hinges; inner hinges of Chimes, rear of both Battles cracked. Occasional marginal thumbsoiling, faint offsetting throughout text blocks. Very good overall. State of each determined by state of title-page, if multiple are extant. Smith II 5-6, 8-9.
