    Charles Dickens. Autograph Letter Signed "Charles Dickens", with Dickens Cabinet Photograph and a CDV of Gad's Hill Place, one page, 4.375" x 7", Gad's Hill Place, Kent, on the author's Gad's Hill Place stationery, December 19, 1861. To long-time friend, Charles Kent author, journalist and editor of the London Sun, and contributor to both Dickens' Household Words and All the Year Round. The page is set into archival mounting corners and matted to an overall size of approximately 14" x 14", ready to frame. The letter is matted along with a cabinet card photograph of the great author and a carte-de-visite of Gad's Hill Place. Accompanying this stunning display piece is a tin plaque expounding upon the relationship between the two respective authors.

    Dickens writes to Kent, in full: "Thursday, Nineteenth December, 1861. / Dear Kent, / I have been away for a / month, reading [from Nicholas Nickleby and David Copperfield on his latest reading tour], and am only now in / the receipt of your letter. The copy of / the Sun that you sent me, I did receive, / and derived the highest gratification / from; - such gratification as you / meant to give me, and I cannot / say more for it when I heartily thank / you. / If I can serve your book in / any way, of course I will do it and / joyfully. / With all good Christmas / feeling and regard, Believe me always / Very faithfully yours / Charles Dickens [flourish] / W. Charles Kent Esquire."

    A wonderfully warm and friendly Christmas-time correspondence from the great Victorian author to one of his own, with Dickens' typically bold signature and elaborate flourish.
