A Fancy for Christmas-Time. London: Bradbury & Evans, 1848. First edition. Foolscap octavo. [i-viii], [1]2-188 pages. Lithographic frontispiece and title, plus additional text illustrations by Leech, Stone, Stanfield and Tenniel. Together five books, each first editions. In the original cloth, stamped in blind and gilt, all edges gilt. All volumes with various bookseller's ticket. Carol has ownership signature on front pastedown and a few gutters lightly overopened, Cricket has previous owner's signature, Haunted Man has neat trimming along lower margin of rear free endpaper. Spines a bit sunned, some moderate wear and soiling to bindings, several hinges starting, some intermittent thumbsoiling in text. Overall, a very good set of the Christmas books. Housed in red cloth slipcase (slightly soiled and worn, yet solid). Smith, Dickens, II, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9.
