First edition, first issue ("Stave I"), second state with title-page in red and blue. Small octavo. [x], 166, [2, ads] pages. With four hand-colored plates (including frontispiece) inserted throughout. Bound by Bayntun in twentieth-century full rust-colored crushed levant morocco, boards ruled in gilt, front board with multi-colored leather onlays depicting Fezziwig dancing, spine ruled, tooled, and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, gilt board-edges and turn-ins, marbled endleaves. Some rubbing, mild soiling to binding, some toning and occasional foxing or dampstaining in text (with spotting or dampstaining to plates). Still, a near fine copy. With the original cloth bound-in at rear.
