England from the Reign of Henry the Third, to the Reign of Richard the Third. [and:] Volume III. England from the Reign of Henry the Seventh to the Revolution of 1688.

    Three octavo volumes. Original publisher's moderate reddish brown cloth, decoratively bordered in blind, front covers pictorially stamped in gilt (depicting young Alfred reading to his mother), spines decoratively stamped and lettered in gilt, all edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Cloth a bit cockled on boards, board edges mildly rubbed with a few bumps here and there, corners a bit abraded and bumped, spines a bit discolored, spine ends chipped with minor loss. Text block edges faintly toned, top edges darkened a touch, occasional thumbprints on outer margins of leaves, preliminary gatherings over-opened as well as sporadically foxed. Volume II has light sunning on outer margins of boards; bookplate on front pastedown, pencil signature on title page, terminal leaves faintly stained on lower corners. A very good set housed in a red cloth slipcase.
