    More Information:

[William Makepeace Thackeray]. The Yellowplush Correspondence. Philadelphia: E. L. Carey & A. Hart, 1838. First edition. Tall octavo. [11]-238 pages. Gorgeous full red crushed morocco by Riviere & Son with gilt spine titles and elaborate designs inside five raised bands, triple-ruled borders on the covers, and decoratively-stamped gilt inner dentelles. Top edge gilt. Original spine label affixed to a rear blank. Minor wear to the joints and corners. Bookplate to front pastedown. Very minor occasional foxing. A near fine copy of Thackeray's first book, published sixteen years before it was finally published in England. The pagination can be explained by noting that there was intended to be a Preface, which was never included.
