    Two quarto volumes. [1, title page], [1, blank], [1, George R.], [1, blank], [8, the names of the subscribers], [6, dedication], [i]-lvi, 467, [1, blank] pages; [1, title page], [1, blank], [1, George R.], [1, blank], [1, supplement to list of subscribers], [1, blank], [469]-971, [1, errata] pages. Two frontispieces, intertextual illustrations. Contemporary half calf over marble paper covered boards, gilt titles on spines, brown leather labels lettered in gilt. Boards and board edges mildly rubbed and soiled, corners bumped, board edges slightly abraded. Text blocks cockled, toned edges and outer margins, moderate foxing on edges and outer margins, occasional thumbprints in margins, pencil ownership signature on title pages. Volume I has creasing on preliminary blank leaves, frontispiece, and terminal sheet; small tear on lower edge of frontis; pencil ownership signature on title page; lacking pages 191-194. Volume II has a bit of chipping to leather on spine; front hinge starting; offsetting from text; closed tear on inner margin of page [629]/630, with minor loss, marginally affecting illustration but no text affected; open tear with loss on lower corner of pages 749/750, no text affected. Overall, a good set.
