[T. S. Eliot, association]. Charles Lamb. Tales from Shakespeare. Boston: 1879. Houghton edition, signed by Eliot (as a child) and his mother.

    More Information:

[T. S. Eliot, association]. Charles Lamb. Tales from Shakespeare. Boston: Houghton, Osgood, and Company, 1879. Signed by T. S. Eliot (as a child) and his mother, Charlotte Eliot, on the first blank. On the black-coated front free endpaper, the following words (in pencil) are barely visible: "T. S. Eliot/First Year/1900", apparently in an unknown hand. On the title-page are the following words in childish block script: "First Year", in an unknown hand (possibly T. S. Eliot). Small octavo. 365 pages. Publisher's full brown cloth, front board decoratively stamped in black, spine stamped in black and gilt, rear board stamped in blind, black coated endleaves. Binding worn and thumbsoiled, spine a bit dull, front hinge starting, a few gutters cracking, a few pages loose. A fair copy of what may have been one of T. S. Eliot's schoolbooks, with a rare childhood signature.
