[Sir Walter Scott]. Kenilworth. A Romance. Edinburgh: Archibald Constable and Co., 1821. First edition. Three volumes. Octavo (7.375 x 4.5 inches; 187 x 115 mm.). [2], 339, [1, blank]; [2], 348, [4, publisher's ads]; [2], 320 pages. Contemporary half calf over marbled paper-covered boards, gilt ruling and black leather spine label lettered in gilt at spine; text block edges trimmed and sprinkled red and black. Spines rather worn, with cracking and loss to surface of calf; some loss to spine ends; joints splitting, but all still sound, with evidence of what appear to be minor repairs to joint ends of third volume (does not seem to be rebacked); boards rubbed; worn and bumped at edges and corners, with boards showing through calf and paper. Minor soiling and occasional spot of foxing to endpapers; discoloration from exposure to turn-ins. Text block edges darkened; a few minor instances of foxing scattered throughout interiors. Good.
