    The Rare and Complete Folio Edition of The Tatler

    [Sir Richard Steele and Joseph Addison]. [The Tatler]. The Lucubrations of Isaac Bickerstaff, Esq. London: Printed and Sold by John Morphew, 1710-1711. First editions of volume I and II (including Tatler numbers 1-271, all that was published in this form). Folio. Approximately 13.75 x 8 inches. With separately-issued title-pages, dedications and indices. Complete. Bound in contemporary full calf, boards stamped in blind. Binding rebacked and restored in modern brown calf (original leather from boards mostly preserved), spine lettered in gilt, new endleaves, title-page of volume I restored at extreme top edge, text toned, dampstained, and soiled. Small ink notation on title-page of volume I. Still, a good copy of the rarest version of this important eighteenth-century literary magazine. Rothschild 1948.
