    More Information:

The Cent Nouvelles Nouvelles is a "collection of prose tales, most of them licentious, presented by its author to Philippe duc de Bourgogne in 1462. Who this author was is unknown. He probably belonged to the court of Burgundy. The work has frequently been attributed to A. de la Sale...The tales, on the model of Boccaccio's Decameron, purport to be told by various members of the Burgundian court, including the duke himself. Some of the tales are derived from the Facetiae of Poggio. The work shows as a whole a great advance in comic and dramatic quality on the fabliaux, but the comical element consists solely in burlesque.." [OCFL]This edition was first published in 1701, this reprint is retouched by Bernard Picart.

Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) Dutch engraver, one of the greatest book artists of his period. "Romeyn de Hooghe here displays his accustomed talent for devising a striking composition through which to interpret each story, and his actors perform their usual force and decisiveness...Over the last two decades de Hooghe has achieved a place in the pantheon of outstanding illustrators...and Les cent nouvelles nouvelles are eagerly sought by collectors."[Gorden Ray].   Gay/Lemonnyer I,519. The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
