Mrs. Delany's Letters, in the Original Binding

[Lytton Strachey]. [Mary Delany]. Letters from Mrs. Delany. (Widow of Doctor Patrick Delany) to Mrs. Frances Hamilton, From the Year 1779, to the Year 1788; Comprising Many Unpublished and Interesting Anecdotes of Their Late Majesties and The Royal Family. Now Printed From the Original Manuscripts. London: Longman, Hurst, et al., 1820.

Slim octavo. 106, [12, Sherwood, Neely, and Jones publisher's catalog dated January 1819] pages. Engraved silhouette frontispiece.

Original drab boards. Spine perishing but still rather solid. Soiled boards well worn and bumped. Toning to edges and extremities. Very light foxing throughout. Bookplates of Strachey and Roger Senhouse inside front cover. Bookseller's ticket. "Colgarth Park 1820" written in ink. Errata slip within. A very good copy of a scarce volume.

A nice collection of letters from a member of the Blue Stockings Society and a correspondent of Jonathan Swift. Mrs. Delany was known later in her life for her "cut-paper mosaics" of flowers which found admirers in King George III and Queen Charlotte. From the library of Bloomsbury Group writer Lytton Strachey and his lover Roger Senhouse.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
