With the inscription: "Sincerely yours/ Rudyard Kipling" on a 3.5 x 4.5 inch piece of "The Elms,/ Rottingdean,/ Nr Brighton" letterhead, mounted on the front pastedown with an added gilt decorative border. Bound by Edmund Worrall in full blue morocco with decorative gilt rules and corner floral devices, five raised spine bands with gilt title and extra gilt in compartments, gilt board edges and inner dentelles, top edge gilt, and marbled endpapers. Bindings lightly scuffed, spine sunned, scuffs on textblock edges. Offset on endpaper margins from leather turn-ins and on front free endpaper from additional mounted inscription border. Small bookbinder's label on front pastedown. Bookseller's pencil annotation on verso of front free endpaper and label on front fly-leaf. Contemporary ink name and date on second front fly-leaf. Few spots of light foxing or minor soiling. Nonetheless, a wonderful copy in very good condition.
