    [Elizabeth Gaskell]. North and South. Leipzig: Bernard Tauchnitz, 1855. Copyright edition. Small octavo. [ii], 428 pages. Contemporary red quarter-leather over marbled paper boards, spine decoratively tooled in gilt and blind with five raised bands, gilt-lettered black leather title label, marbled endpapers. Boards rubbed, backstrip faded, spine ends and extremities worn, occasional chip to leather at joints, corners bumped, previous owner signature. Very good. From the William E. Fredeman Collection.
