    [Charles Dickens]. Sketches by Boz: Illustrative of Every-Day Life, and Every-Day People. The Second Series. Complete in One Volume. London: John Macrone, 1837.

    viii, 377, [20, catalog dated December 1836] pages. Engraved title page and eight engraved plates by George Cruikshank (lacking "Vaux Hall Gardens by Day", listed as both plate facing title and page 216; and with additional unlisted "Mister Minns and his Cousins" plate facing page 263.) Cloth with embossed wreath and rules on boards, decorations and gilt lettered title label on spine, smaller label remnant at foot. Binding rubbed and soiled. Backstrip torn and chipped, exposing spine. Joints cracked. Textblock split between 24 and [25], pages occasionally over-opened. Contemporary ink inscription on front free pastedown, previous owner's name in ink on title page. Small bookstore label on rear pastedown. Plates with image off-set. Foxing, heavier on plates, and occasional minor soiling or stains. A good copy and candidate to re-bind.
