    More Information: [Charles Dickens]. Master Humphrey's Clock. By "Boz." London: Chapman & Hall, 4 April 1840-27 Nov. 1841. Original weekly serial. Eighty-eight parts, large octavo. Paginated continuously for three volumes; [1]-306, [1]-306, [1]-426 pages; three leaves of first volume preliminaries in Part XXVI, three of second volume in Part LII, three of third in Part LXXXVIII. Frontispieces, head- and tail-pieces, initials and in-text illustrations by George Cattermole and Hablot K. Browne. Original white illustrated wrappers. Housed in custom green cloth chemise in green half black morocco slipcase; spine stamped in gilt with five raised bands. Twelve parts have improvised sewing, though center leaves detached; all others simply folded, some with stab holes; wrappers of Parts XXV, LXXXIII, LXXXVII-LXXXVIII appear to be glued in place. Edge wear, chipping, toning, splash and smudge soiling, and occasional short tears to wrappers; wrappers of Parts XV, XXIII, XXXII-XXXIII and XXXVIII completely detached; several others coming free; occasional penciled or inked signatures to front wrappers; toning; scattered damp-staining, ink stains; some corners rubbed. Occasional thumbsoiling throughout; mild foxing and toning; a fair amount of edge wear and chipping; evidence of dog-earing; some mild offsetting. Edge wear to chemise with faint white staining to flaps; interior browned, somewhat creased, beginning to crack and flake at edges. Slipcase scuffed with rubbing to corners and edges; cloth beginning to peel up from top spine edge; white soiling to spine, side and bottom cloth. Fair to good.
