Bixby, [1908]. Second edition. "Editorial copy." Signed. Quarto. xxx, 152, [8] pages. Twenty leaves of plates, some inserted and some contiguous with gatherings; a few colored. Facsimiles, some folding; one set printed in blue. All with original folded tissue inserts, majority printed in red. Original half imitation vellum, brown paper-covered boards. Edges rough-trimmed. Regular shelf wear to binding; somewhat soiled and bumped; faint scuffing, light scratches to boards. Areas of mild toning to endpapers and interior of text block; occasional foxing, faint offsetting. Marginal pencil annotations throughout; scraps of paper with notes laid in. Very good. Original autograph letters tipped in, including one from Charles Dickens dated October 1858, requesting that someone come to repair a clock at Gads Hill. Front pastedown with two catalog entries and an article in French entitled "Charles Dickens et les femmes." An article from Mercure de France, "Les amours de Charles Dickens," inserted between front endpapers, along with an article recounting Charles Dickens's funeral. "Private correspondence between Charles Dickens and Mrs. Henry Winter (née Maria Beadnell), the original of Dora Spenlow in 'David Copperfield' and Flora Finching in 'Little Dorrit.'"
