First Rackham edition, limited to 1,150 copies and signed by the illustrator. Two volumes, quarto (11.125 x 8.75 inches; 283 x 227 mm.). ix, [1], 159, [1]; ix, [1], 181, [1] pages. Frontispiece with sixty-four additional full-color plates tipped to inserted sheets of greenish-brown paper, each faced with tissue inserts printed with the scene and lines being represented; with original tissue guards. Scattered in-text line drawings. Three-quarter green morocco with green cloth-covered boards; fronts and backs ruled in gilt at edges of morocco; spine stamped in gilt with five raised bands. Top edge trimmed and gilt, all others rough-trimmed. Spines of both volumes faded to pale green; mild shelf wear. Dust soiling to top edges of text blocks; other edges toned. Occasional foxing, very faint; colored paper housing plates offsetting onto facing pages. Very good. Housed in custom chemises and slipcases. From the Illustrated Book Collection of David Salinas.
