More Information: Originally Nichols and Smithers sent out a prospectus for this illustrated "Nights" under the name of the "Grolier Society." This binding was described as "three-quarter levant. Selected Syrian, large-grained, Angora goat skins, Sumac tanned, of the characteristic Damascus red..." An owner's stamp acquisition note in the front of these volumes states that "C. Gilbert Beetem, Esq. Procured (this set) from the New York Kamashastra Society 12/8/03...set $71.25." The original Kama Shastra Society was founded by Burton and Arbuthnot for the "printing of various Eastern works, chiefly of an erotic nature." The first publication of the "Nights" was under the egis of the "society". In consequence this is often called the "Kama Shastra Edition." Penzer 117-124.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
