Description

Faulkner's First Yoknapatawpha County Novel in the Rare Original Dust Jacket

William Faulkner. Sartoris. New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, [1929]. First edition. Octavo. [iv], 380 pages. Publisher's black cloth, lettered and ruled in red on front cover and spine. Top edge stained red. Original publisher's black and red striped dust jacket by Arthur Hawkins (price-clipped). Minor edge wear to boards. One bumped corner. Light sunning to jacket spine. Mostly trivial edge wear to the jacket, except for a small chip at the spine head, which has taken away the "ORIS" from "SARTORIS." A very good copy of Faulkner's third novel, and the first of his Yoknapatawpha County novels, in a handsome, unrestored example of the truly rare dust jacket. Peterson A4a.
