[2], 188, [1, blank], [1, printer's imprint], [2, blank] (note: pages 11 and 12 absent from pagination); 223, [1, printer's imprint] pages. Publisher's perfect binding in original wrappers, printed in green and black. Backstrips faintly tanned with a few minor wrinkles; very light shelf wear; wrappers of the first volume starting to separate at the front hinge and the base of the spine, bindings otherwise tight. Page edges very faintly yellowed, most noticeable on the top edges. Near fine. First appearance of the novel that remained unpublished in the United States until 1958. Source for the 1962 Stanley Kubrick film starring Peter Sellers, James Mason and Shelley Winters.
